For the first time since 2020, the UTHealth Houston Student InterCouncil (SIC) welcomed more than 200 incoming and returning students to the University Life Center for the 24th annual Salutation event for the university’s six schools.

At the event, held in early October, UT Police had the opportunity to speak to students about the safety-focused resources and services available to them. Community Outreach Officer Manny Leston and Sr. Community Relations Specialist Sherneka Cagle provided students with important phone numbers, safety class information, and tips on how to stay safe on campus.

“We were so happy to be able to get in front of students to remind students how important it is that they work with us to keep our campus safe,” Leston said. “It was wonderful to be in front of students again and to experience their contagious enthusiasm.

Resources shared at the SIC event can also be found on this website, including information on the department’s most requested safety classes: General Campus Safety and Active Shooter Prevention and Response.
