The Federal Trade Commission has released their calendar of events for National Consumer Protection Week (NCPW) observed this year on March 6 thru March 12, 2022.

To help you stay aware of scams and ways to spot them, the University of Texas Police at Houston (UT Police) is offering the safety presentation Thursday, March 10 and Friday, March 11, 2022- Don't fall for It: Scams and how to spot them, via Zoom.

This one-hour course familiarizes attendees with Texas laws associated with common scams. Guidance is provided on how to spot scams, tips to protect yourself and how to report a scam.

In the past year, UT Police has received reports from MD Anderson and UTHealth employees of phone scams on the rise with callers asking for money for "unpaid fees." In these incidents, victims have reported callers asking for payments via wire transfers and gift cards.
