Public Safety Officers, Police Officers Offer Safe Escort On Campus

When facing a safety concern, request a courtesy escort to your vehicle by calling 713-792-2890.

January 06, 2022 By: Carla Hulsey Pate

The University of Texas Police at Houston (UT Police) continually works with its community to make MD Anderson and UTHealth Houston safe places to learn, work, and live.

UT Police offer a Personal Safety Transportation service designed for community members who have safety concerns and would like to have a public safety officer or police officer walk or transport them as they make their way to their destination.

This includes vehicular escort (transportation in a UT Police vehicle) or a pedestrian escort (an officer accompanying the individual on foot).

Based on availability, this service provides an escort for students, faculty, staff, patients and visitors to locations beginning and ending at a building location, including parking garages and parking lots, owned or operated by MD Anderson and UTHealth Houston in the Texas Medical Center.

The courtesy escort is not for convenience, but to assist the community with safety needs. UT Police advise users of the service to call ahead when possible as wait times may vary based on staffing.

To use the Personal Safety Transportation service, call ahead to the UT Police Risk Operations Center, (713) 792-2890, and request a courtesy escort. A police telecommunicator will ask for your name, number of persons being transported, point of origin and destination, and provide you with an estimated wait time.

The service is available from sunset to sunrise, with emergency transportation available 24 hours a day.
