On October 6, UT Police, UTHealth University Housing and community partners will come together once again for National Night Out, an annual event that promotes police-community partnerships, crime prevention awareness and neighborhood engagement.

Join In on the Experience

At NNO, residents can meet the officers who serve their community, learn about the division’s safety resources, and connect with the people and organizations that help keep the community safe and welcoming.

“Every activity, resource table and conversation opportunity is designed to help residents connect with the people and services available to support them,” said event planner Sherneka Cagle, a senior community relations specialist with UT Police.

Event partners include University Housing, UTHealth Houston’s Safety, Health, Environment & Risk Management team, UT MD Anderson Cancer Prevention, the Houston Fire Department, and UT Physicians. Each participating team brings information, displays, and resources focused on health and safety.

Attendees will enjoy family-friendly activities with fellow residents. Emergency vehicles, fire safety demos, and a safety presentation will be among the attractions.

More Than an Annual Event

While National Night Out is a single evening of activities and engagement, its purpose reflects the work that occurs throughout the year.

“National Night Out is a wonderful event filled with families and residents who enjoy an evening with one another and with our UT Police family,” said Police Chief William Adcox. “Every day, UT Police is dedicated to safety for residents, visitors, and guests of the housing complex and we are grateful for the relationships we have with the community we serve.”

Creating a safe community is a shared responsibility. Residents, housing staff and campus departments often identify concerns early, allowing UT Police to respond proactively and address issues before they escalate.

This October, residents are invited to connect with the people and resources that help make UT University Housing a safer, more connected place to live.
