UT Police urges caution amid rodeo traffic surge
February 27, 2026
With rodeo season in full swing and ongoing construction increasing activity around the South Campus area, UT Police at Houston urges all workforce members and students to remain vigilant when navigating local roadways during RodeoHouston, which runs from March 2 to 22. UT Police officers will be actively monitoring the South Campus area throughout the rodeo timeframe to help promote safety and address pedestrian and vehicle traffic violations.
Officers are also engaging with the community through townhall meetings and the Community Outreach KnightLine Newsletter to promote awareness of traffic laws and safe crossing practices, especially through contacts uniformed officers have with the public and town halls. Additionally, UT Police are coordinating with city police officials and encouraging the public to report roadway issues to Houston’s 311 service.
